Your good deed of the day.

Terms of Service

Last updated: 6 October 2026

This is the agreement between you and Zelbi. It is written to be read, so it is in plain words rather than legal ones. Using Zelbi means you accept it.

Who this is with

Zelbi is a service operated by Zelbi Inc., a Delaware corporation based in Washington State. In this document "Zelbi", "we" and "us" mean the operator of the service, and "you" means the person using it. Reach us at support@zelbi.ai

What Zelbi is, and what it is not

Zelbi is a place where someone with an item they no longer need can offer it, free, to someone nearby who wants it. We show listings, we let the two of you agree a time, and we charge the person claiming an item a small fee for the claim.

We are not a party to the handoff. The item is not ours. We never see it, never hold it, never inspect it, never transport it, and we are not present when it changes hands. We do not verify who anyone is, and we do not check that an item is safe, working, legal to own, or as described. The arrangement is between the two of you, and the item is given as-is.

Who may use Zelbi

You must be 18 or older. You confirm your age when you create an account. We do not check it against any document, so the confirmation is your statement and we rely on it.

You need one account, in your own name, and you are responsible for what happens under it. Do not share it, do not create an account for someone else, and do not create a new one if we have closed your old one. Tell us at once if you think someone else is using yours.

Zelbi is offered only in the United States and is not directed to people outside it.

Your agreement to these terms

You agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy when you create an account, and we record that you did — which version, and when. If we change the terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app and ask you to accept the new version before you carry on.

Emails from Zelbi. Your account comes with emails from us. Some are about your account: sign-in codes, and notices about your account's standing — a suspension, a warning, or a pause on claiming. Those always arrive while you have an account. Claims and handoffs reach you as notifications in the app and on your phone, and changes to these terms are shown in the app. Other emails are news about Zelbi: new features, invitations and offers. Every one of those has an Unsubscribe link at the bottom, and one tap stops them.

Giving an item away

When you list an item you choose how long it stays up — one day, three days, seven days, or no deadline. Three days is the default. When that time passes without a claim, the listing expires on its own. A listing with no deadline expires after 30 days, unless you have turned on auto-relist. You can remove a listing yourself at any time.

Claiming an item

Zelbi credits

A Zelbi credit covers the $2.00 fee on one claim. There are three ways to get one, and each is offered only while we are running it:

A credit expires 90 days after it is earned. Credits have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money. A credit for a first giveaway, and a credit from a friend's code, can each be used only once per card and once per iPhone; we check the iPhone with Apple's DeviceCheck. A friend's code does not cover a claim paid with the inviting friend's card, and no referral credit is earned when the two of you share a card or the person who invited collected the item. We may remove a credit that was obtained by abusing these rules.

When a credit covers a claim, the $2.00 hold is still placed on your card, and it is released rather than charged. The Fee and Refund Policy sets out when the credit is used up.

The item itself

Whatever you take away, you take as it is. We make no promise about the condition, safety, legality, ownership, fitness for any purpose, or accuracy of the description of any item on Zelbi. Nothing is inspected by us. If an item turns out to be broken, unsafe or not what it appeared to be, that is a matter between you and the person who gave it to you.

Ownership passes directly between the two of you. Zelbi never owns the item at any point.

Meeting people — please read this

Zelbi's whole function is to bring two strangers to one place, and that place is often someone's home. That carries real risk and we want you to have it in front of you rather than buried.

You decide whether to go, where to meet, and whether to stay. You can always ask to meet somewhere public, and you can always choose a curbside handoff where nobody has to be present at the same time. If something feels wrong, leave — a $2.00 fee is never a reason to stay somewhere you do not want to be.

What we reveal, and when. A listing is shown publicly at an offset point, not its real one. The exact location is released to one person — the person who has claimed the item, once their card hold exists. Your display name, photo and recent activity are visible to other people using Zelbi, and a giver's trust score shows on their listings. All of this is set out in the Privacy Policy

You accept the risks of meeting people you do not know and of taking away items we have not inspected. The safety guidance in the Community Guidelines is there to be followed and we ask you to read it. If you are ever in danger, call 911 — we are not an emergency service and cannot intervene at the moment something happens.

Your trust score and other automatic decisions

Some things on Zelbi are decided by software rather than by a person, and they affect you. You should know what they are.

If one of these goes against you and you think it is wrong, write to support@zelbi.ai and a person will look at it. That is the appeal, for every decision listed here, and it is a real one — we would rather hear from you than have you locked out over something a rule got wrong.

Disputes about a pickup

If something goes wrong with a handoff — the item was not there or was not what was described — report it in the app within 7 days: Report a problem in the ••• menu on the pickup's Handoff screen, or Settings → Report a problem. You can also tap Contact support on the item's receipt. We review both sides and decide. Where it is decided in the claimer's favour, we refund the $2.00 fee to the card it was taken from. If the other person did not turn up, tell us from the handoff: the $2.00 is still taken as usual, and if we confirm they missed it, the claimer gets a Zelbi credit that covers the fee on their next pickup.

We settle the fee. We do not arbitrate ownership of the item itself, and we cannot compel anyone to do anything.

Reporting listings and people

Zelbi has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. To report a listing, tap Share on the listing, then Report listing. To report a person or a pickup, use Settings → Report a problem, or Report a problem in the ••• menu on the Handoff screen. We review reports within 24 hours. Where a report is upheld, we remove the content and stop the account responsible. An account that sends many reports in a short time is paused from reporting while we review them.

Suspending or closing your account

We may remove a listing, refuse a message, limit what you can do, suspend your account or close it, if you break these terms or the Community Guidelines, if your behaviour puts someone at risk, or if we are required to. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why. The appeal is the same address as above.

You can stop using Zelbi at any time and delete your account from Settings in the app. What survives deletion is described in the Privacy Policy and on the screen you confirm on.

What you post

Your photographs, descriptions and messages stay yours. You give us permission to store them and show them where the service needs to — a listing photo on the feed, a message to the person you sent it to. That permission lasts as long as we hold the content, which the Privacy Policy explains. You confirm that what you upload is yours to upload and does not infringe anyone's rights.

We may remove content that breaks these terms or the Guidelines.

What is ours

The Zelbi name, the app, the site and everything in them apart from user content belong to us. Do not copy the service, take it apart, scrape it, create accounts by automated means, run scripts or bots against it, or use it to build something competing with it. Using Zelbi to defraud anyone, to demand cash or anything else for a listed item, or to harass another person breaks this agreement outright.

The service is provided as it is

We work to keep Zelbi running and accurate, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption, free of faults, or that everything shown in it will be correct. Reminders and notifications can be delayed or fail to arrive, and you should not rely on them alone for anything that matters. The service is provided as it is and as it is available.

Limits on what we owe you

To the fullest extent the law allows, Zelbi is not liable for anything that happens between you and another person, for any item obtained through the service, for anything that occurs at a handoff, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Where we are found liable to you despite this, our total liability is limited to the greater of $100 or the total fees you paid Zelbi in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Some states do not allow certain limits to be excluded. Where that is so, this section applies only as far as the law permits, and nothing here removes a right you have that cannot be waived.

If a disagreement arises between us

Write to us first at support@zelbi.ai with what happened and what you want. We then have 30 days to try to resolve it, and most things are settled that way.

If it is not settled, either of us may use small claims court where the claim qualifies. A dispute between you and Zelbi is governed by the law of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of King County, Washington have jurisdiction over it. You are not required to give up your right to go to court, and nothing in this agreement sends you to arbitration.

The rest

These terms, the Privacy Policy, the Community Guidelines and the Fee and Refund Policy are the whole agreement between us. If any part of it is found unenforceable, the rest still stands. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to. You may not transfer this agreement to anyone else; we may transfer it if the service changes hands.
