Irvine is a planned city, with villages such as Woodbridge, Northwood and Shady Canyon, each in its own architectural style. Anaheim is home to Disneyland, which opened in 1955. When Zelbi opens in Orange County, one photo of a dresser is enough for a neighbor to claim it.

Skip the donation drop-off in Orange County

Huntington Beach does not pick up bulky or abandoned items from private property. Its city page points residents to the Republic Services transfer station on Nichols Lane for self-hauled debris, and dumping there carries a fee. Irvine also ran a free Dump Day drop-off in March 2022 for mattresses and couches.

Zelbi skips that trip. You take one photo, the giver picks the day and time that suit them, and the claimer comes to collect the item. Giving is free.

Free furniture pickup in Orange County

Most of Irvine lies in a broad, flat valley between Loma Ridge and the San Joaquin Hills, while Anaheim Hills, the eastern third of Anaheim, was built to a master plan. Zelbi's curbside option lets the item wait at the curb for the claimer.

Irvine averages 13.06 inches of rain a year over about 24.5 rainy days. A forecast reported in early February 2026 called for highs of 90 to 91 degrees in parts of Santa Ana. With curbside pickup, the giver sets the time the item goes out and the claimer confirms that slot in the app.

Free stuff near you in Orange County

Searches for "donation centers near me" fall in the 1K-10K range each month across the Orange County metro, and "craigslist free stuff" in the 100-1K range. Each listing shows a neighborhood area rather than an address, so a bookcase in Costa Mesa can be listed without giving out the giver's home.

Neighborhoods here range from Woodbridge and Northwood in Irvine to Anaheim Hills and the Platinum Triangle around Angel Stadium, where mixed-use streets and high-rises are planned.

Items on Zelbi are free. The only charge is a $2 platform fee, paid by the person who claims an item; giving something away costs nothing.

A simpler alternative to Craigslist free, Freecycle, Buy Nothing and Trash Nothing

Orange County already has free giveaways. The Buy Nothing groups around Costa Mesa and Irvine each count thousands of members, and Craigslist has an orange county area. On Zelbi, a claimer who cancels less than two hours before pickup still pays the $2 fee.

One photo to list

Zelbi writes the description from the photo, so an old dresser needs no typing.

Claims tied to accounts

Each claim is tied to a Zelbi account and an authorized payment, and your exact address goes only to the claimer once payment is authorized.

A time you pick

The giver picks the day and time, then meets the claimer or leaves the item outside.

Zelbi is an independent app. It is not affiliated with Craigslist, The Freecycle Network, the Buy Nothing Project or Trash Nothing. Their names belong to their owners.

Moving or decluttering in Orange County?

Cal State Fullerton's housing page says on-campus residents had to move out by 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, or within 24 hours after their final exam, whichever came first. The page says its 2027 move-out instructions will be updated as the time approaches.

Leaving without a formal checkout counts as an improper checkout, which carries a $120 charge. Renters hold the majority of occupied homes in Irvine and Costa Mesa, at 55.3% and 61.1%.
